For an animal as large as the horse, the idea that a small part of his anatomy can render him lame, ill, or worse can be mind-boggling. It’s true for the hoof—after all, the phrase you’re used to seeing is “No hoof, no horse.” But did you know that the horse’s mouth plays a vital role in not only his nutritional health but also his mental health and total body physical health?

The most common picture of a horse having dental care performed on him would be a person floating the teeth—cutting away any points and evening the line of teeth in the mouth so the mouth chews flatly.
