Nancy Ditty and First In Line Win Congress 2-Year-Old Open Non-Pro WP Futurity

Nancy Ditty found herself “First In Line” this afternoon in the Congress 2-Year-Old Open Non Pro Western Pleasure Futurity with a very nice ride aboard a gelding named “Kenny.” The 2-year-old gelding is by RL Best of Sudden and out of Sheiks Bodys Hot.

Ditty watched and waited as Angie Cannizzaro rode Kenny at major events throughout the summer. She decided at the Reichert Celebration that he would make an excellent addition to her show lineup.

“I’ve watched Angie ride him all summer, and I’ve loved him,” she says. “We bought him at the Reichert Celebration. This is his first show. He is a Coughlin [2-Year-Old Maiden Western Pleasure] horse, so he’s never been shown.”

Cannizzaro had the first ride aboard Kenny in the preliminaries of the Coughlin 2-Year-Old Western Pleasure, and she will compete later this evening in the Open finals of the class. Ditty has never shown a maiden horse before at the Congress, however, that prospect wasn’t nearly as daunting as it might seem.

“She got to show him first, [in the prelims], so really, I guess I got the second ride!” she says. “I thought he was good and soft. I don’t have any complaints about any of it. He is so handsome and big-boned. He is big and pretty. I just love him. I really do.”

Earlier in the show, Ditty placed eighth in the 3-Year-Old Open Non-Pro Western Pleasure Futurity aboard Forever N Ever. She also placed seventh in the Non-Pro Western Pleasure Maturity with Huntin For A Cowboy. Ditty’s mother will be showing Forever N Ever, aka “Pumpkin,” in the Select Amateur Western Pleasure tonight.

“We’ve had a great Congress,” she says. “I’m looking forward to [the Coughlin tonight] and being in the stands with my warm feet up! I’ll be holding my trophy!”
