The Martinganza Quarter Horse Show and Futurity just closed out their multi-breed, four-day weekend bash with a whopping 6,000 entries.

The event took place March 31-April 3 and hosted six AQHA/NSBA shows, four APHA/NSBA shows, and a WCHA Futurity in Williamston, North Carolina. Judges for the show were Jeff Allen, Bobbie Jo Stanton, David Denniston, Clint Fullerton, Robbin Jung, and Michael Jung.

Show Coordinator, Susan Daniels, explains that this was the first year for Martinganza to include APHA classes, and the addition was very well received. Also, the WCHA Gene Parker Memorial Halter Futurity was held for the second year in a row.

The event kicked off with a Friday night Exhibitor’s Dinner sponsored by The Equine Chronicle. “It was well received, and the exhibitors always love the North Carolina BBQ 7 Fried Chicken. We also enjoy the fellowship after the show that goes with it,” Daniels says.

There were plenty of fun awards to be presented, thanks to generous donations. Kathleen Orphanos won a beautiful bit box that was donated by Crown Royal Farm, owned by Caroline Vesely. Gabrielle Larkin won a new Billy Royal Saddle that was also donated by Crown Royal Farm. Alison Hartman won a beautiful bracelet through another random drawing.

“We had a wonderful show, and we look forward to 2023! We’re thankful for all of the exhibitors, trainers, and wonderful staff for putting on such a nice show and being a part of our 2022 Martinganza!” Daniels says.
