Kathy Tobin is Proud, New Owner of AQHA Sire, VS Code Blue

Allocate Your Assets is going to have a bit of friendly competition in the breeding shed during the 2020 season, because he’s no longer the only stallion standing at Circle S Ranch. The 2007 AQHA stallion, VS Code Blue, is currently making his way from Chipley, Florida to his new home in Scottsdale, Arizona to join his new owners, Kathy and Jerry Tobin.

By RL Best of Sudden and out of Vital Signs Are Good, “Peyton” is the sire of multiple AQHA World Champions, APHA World Champions, AQHA and APHA World and Congress Top five placers, and Futurity Champions. In his own right, he was an AQHA High Point Western Pleasure and Trail Stallion and the 2018 Western Pleasure Super Sires Stallion of the Year.

But Kathy knew long before his success in the show pen that the striking, roan stallion with the stunning mane was destined for big things. “Peyton was actually in Arizona when he was a baby,” says Breeding Manager Jim Searles. “Kathy tried to purchase him back then, but the opportunity was never available. Everything has come full circle now.”

“With Al’s success as a Million Dollar Sire, Kathy has been wanting another stallion to stand, and we were fortunate to come across the opportunity of being able to purchase Peyton. His former owner, Jan Pittman, and Kathy have done deals throughout the last few years and have become good friends. In mid-December, Jan had inquired about us purchasing some of her mares, and Deanna and I immediately asked if her stallion would be a possibility as well. She came back with an option on both the mares and the stud, and Kathy was very excited about the prospect. She’s definitely loving this chance to go in a different avenue with a Western sire, and we’re excited to stand another stallion here at the ranch.”

With the reality of current breeding contracts and frozen semen to discuss, the deal didn’t go through until just before Christmas time. Now, Peyton is making his way to sunny Scottsdale this weekend to meet his big brother, Al, and his new family at the ranch.

“He’s been a great sire of a lot of Western foals, especially in Western Pleasure, Western Riding, and Trail. It has always been one of Kathy’s goals to see foals by her stallions growing up and making their way in the industry, so this is a continuation of that dream.”

“We would like to thank Jan for helping to make this purchase a reality and know that she will be pleased to follow his career in the years to come.”
