Jana Simons and Gimme Ur Best Stuff seize the 10K Non Pro HUS in Ocala

Jana Simons and Gimme Ur Best Stuff won the $10k NSBA Maturity Non Pro & Ltd Non Pro Hunter Under Saddle at The Championship 2025 at World Equestrian Center – Ocala on Friday morning, winning a check for $2220.

Jana says she originally bought the gelding by RL Best Of Sudden and out of a Good Version Mare, This Version Glows, at the NSBA sale and won quite a bit of sale money with “Puff” when he was three.

“Sara helped me turn him into my all around horse, and he’s been a talented hunter saddle horse, so I did all the hunter saddle stuff with him when he was an aged horse,” Jana explains. When they saw Mary Roberts had added good payouts to the Hunt Seat here at the show, she decided to give that discipline a go again.

“He’s just a neat all around horse, and he’s just super easy to show,” says Jana.  “He puts his little ears up and goes around, so he’s just a good boy.” She adds that what is appealing about him most in the discipline is probably his self carriage.  “When cantering around, he just carries himself and swings his legs really nice. I can just put my hands forward and truck along on him and he’s always the same. Every time you look at him, he’s always doing the same thing, so I think he’s probably a very easy horse to judge in the non-pro.

She adds that even though when she was growing up, they primarily had Western horses due to their family legacy of Zippos Sensation as an influential sire, she always enjoyed the hunt seat.  “If you just let them canter a little bit, they swung their legs so cool and they were so nice, so if you got one that was big enough, then why not? My dad used to always buy nice thoroughbred mares and cross them on the Western Pleasure stud, so I’ve always liked the hunt seat. My sister does a great job with them and really gets them to stand up in their shoulders, so she’s really easy to ride behind.”

Besides, coming to World Equestrian Center Ocala is an experience unlike any other.  “Like Disneyland for Horses,” says Jana. “That’s not an unusual sentiment, but Jarrett does an amazing job running the horse show, and they’re all so easy to work with as an exhibitor, it’s hard not to come to these. I think they do a fantastic job.”

In true all around fashion, the duo followed up their win by competing in the $40,000 NSBA Ltd Rider Senior Trail with 14 other teams, and Jana and Puff came out Reserve Champions to the tune of $8500.
