Normally we’re used to seeing JR Cook’s name, and Georgia Cook’s name, paired with that of Line Up Behind, the superstar western pleasure gelding by VS Flatline and out of Shez Immortal, bred by Capital Quarter Horses.
In fact, earlier this week at the All American Quarter Horse Congress, Georgia Cook lit up the NYATT Western Pleasure with “Calvin,” winning a Congress Championship, which resulted in big smiles for all her hard work and achievement.
But on Wednesday, it was a new name announced together with Line Up Behind when he once again stole the show – this time, it was sister Isabella holding the reins, and hold them well she did.
The team earned a Congress Championship in Level 1 Youth Western Pleasure 13 & Under! Not only was it Isabella’s first win with Calvin – it was her first time showing him. “It was exciting,” says Isabella, who normally shows her own recognizable champion, Tickled Pinkk.
The family is guided by Cochran Quarter Horses, and Andy just taught Isabella how to ride Calvin. When did that happen? “Last night,” smiles Isabella. They had cobbled together her show outfit at the last minute just for this class, JR explains.
Isabella says her most memorable instruction from Andy was to sit soft, and apparently, it was the key factor in their win, as Calvin is going to get treats for this performance. Isabella also believes she’s pretty sure she will want to show him again.
She also says she’s grateful for, “Andy, Katie, her dad, JR, her mom, and John, and Erica for the clothes, and Paige Neill for the chaps!”
