PMG press release

Wellington, FL – March 6, 2014 – The Fred Astaire Dance Studio of West Palm Beach is lending some of its professional ballroom dancers to assist in a benefit event to support the United States Equestrian Dressage Team on March 15, 2014. The special event, entitled, “Prancing with the Stars” after the famous television program “Dancing with the Stars,” will include a dancing competition to get the auction started for the evening.

Studio owner Doreen Scheinpflud has arranged for professional dancers Mar Martinez, Tanya Payne, Cliffton Sepulveda and Michael Shades to each be paired up with two professional riders for two performances. The professional dancers will be paired with professional riders Chris Hickey, Cesar Parra, Todd Flettrich, Katherine Bateson Chandler, Shelly Francis, Adrienne Lyle, Arlene Page and Michael Barisone.

Each team will demonstrate one of the following dances for their routine: waltz, tango, foxtrot, salsa, rumba, swing, cha cha or hustle. Each team will perform a 90-second dance routine which will be critiqued by three guest judges. The judges are Ellin Dixon Miller, Jane Savoie and Bent Jensen, all accomplished riders themselves.

After each routine is assessed by the judges, the bidding will begin. The professional riders will be auctioned off to the highest bidder for a day of their services. Bids will also be taken for the opportunity to sit with the judges during a freestyle.

After the Stars are auctioned off, bidding at the party will begin on several very exciting packages. Five items are available for pre-bidding by registering at http://uset.auctionanything.com. On-line pre-bidding began yesterday, Wednesday, March 5 and closes at 12:00 noon on March 15.

One hundred percent of the money collected from the benefit (ticket sales and auction proceeds) will directly fund the 2014 World Equestrian Games Dressage athletes and High Performance Programs. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent provided by law. Checks should be made out directly to the USET Foundation. Sponsorships are available at the following levels: Platinum: $15,000; Gold: $10,000; Silver: $5,000; Table of 8: $2,000; Individual tickets: $250.
