EC Photos of the Day: Thank You For Your Service, David Stone

Sales Director Gordon Downey and Online Editor Delores Kuhlwein had the honor of meeting decorated combat wounded veteran David Stone of Alabama in the makeup pen for Amateur Halter Stallions at the 2026 All American Quarter Horse Congress last week!

David competed with DS Romans Legacy in the Amateur Aged Halter Stallions, winning the Bronze title in the class, and the Reserve Congress Champion title in the Limited Division.

A small breeder who put himself on the map with DS Roman Kid Clu, Stone handed the lead to Jason Smith to take the stallion to success at the Congress in 1999, followed by a Reserve in the Open Aged Stallions at the AQHA World Show in 2000. Stone’s service in the Army in Vietnam affected the college-educated veteran physically, but it didn’t hinder his passion for the horse, his successful boutique breeding program he began in the late 60s, or his warmth and intelligence.

Thank you, Mr. Stone, for your contributions our country as a breeder and most of all, as a fighter for our freedom!
