One of our good friends, Kate Upton, was spotted at the Fox Lea Farm Winter Circuit that is currently underway in Venice, FL! Most people will recognize Kate as the three-time cover model of Sports Illustrated, the face of numerous fashion and cosmetic brands, and actress in movies like, The Other Woman, with Cameron Diaz, Nicki Minaj, and Leslie Mann. But we know Kate from her success in the APHA arena as a former youth competitor with Zipped From The Heart that she rode to win a World Championship in 14-18 Western Riding. This was a horse she shared with her sister, Laura Upton, as well as Too Shiny Forya, another all-around gelding.
In a 2010 Equine Chronicle interview with Kate, she chatted briefly about how time constraints now limit her ability to show. However, she said that showing horses will always be her first love and true passion.
“Ironically, Upton was first ‘discovered’ by Trump Model Management in the DFW airport, when she was on her way home from the Memorial Day Classic horse show.”
“Showing horses in APHA has been my passion for as long as I can remember, and that will never change,” Upton said. (EquineChronicle.com, 2010)
