We are loving this story from Lori and Caitlin Arthur:
Meet Gracie, our beloved 8-year-old German Shepherd with a heart of gold and a nose for adventure. While most dogs chase tennis balls or lounge in the shade, Gracie has made it her personal mission to patrol our 10-acre property in search of one very specific treasure—lost fly masks!
Somehow, our horses always manage to wiggle out of their fly masks (we’re still not sure how), but Gracie never lets a single one stay missing for long. With ears perked and tail wagging, she trots through fields and brush like a professional tracker, proudly returning each lost mask like it’s the crown jewels.
Gracie’s loyalty to her herd, both human and horse, is unmatched. She’s more than just a farm dog—she’s our four-legged ranch hand, fly mask recovery expert, and best friend. We’re pretty sure the horses are just testing her at this point—but she never lets them down!
She is currently the #1 ranked German Fly Mask Retriever in the state. (She’s hoping AKC will make this an official sport soon)!
Thank you to Lori and Caitlin for the adorable photo and fabulous story! If you have a great photo of the day, please email it to: Delores.Kuhlwein@EquineChronicle.com.
