Deadline Approaching to Consign Horses to 2013 AQHA World Show Sale

The 2013 AQHA World Championship Show Sale, held in conjunction with the AQHA World Championship Show in Oklahoma City, is slated for November 17. The sale will once again be managed by AQHA, with direction from the AQHA World Show Sale Committee.

The AQHA World Show Sale consignment form is now available online; the consignment deadline is August 15. Download the consignment form. As it was last year, the consignment fee is $600 and the commission rate is 5 percent, with a minimum of $250.

Last year, the AQHA World Show Sale was managed by AQHA and directed by the AQHA World Show Sale Committee for the first time in AQHA history. A longtime consignor, Joan Schroeder served on the committee in its inaugural year. The Gainesville, Texas, breeder said she was impressed by the 2012 sale.

“They stepped out to make change, and change is not always easy,” Schroeder said of her fellow committee members plus AQHA staff involved with organizing the sale. “I thought all of the different disciplines brought the top-of-the-line and people will see by the results that they sold and that the best horses got brought here.

“You’re always looking for what you can do better: There are a few things that we can do better, but as in all, I thought everybody supported it really well.”

The high seller at the 2012 AQHA World Show Sale was bred and consigned by Schroeder:Rojo Solo Cup (Born To Be Blazing-Such Good Potential by Potential Investment). The 2011 red roan stallion sold for $81,000 to Jens Eric Udsen of Denmark with J.R. Reichert Ventures as his agent.

AQHA is moving forward with improvements to the 2013 sale.

“Every American Quarter Horse fan has a dream of one day owning a world champion,” said Doug Hayes, AQHA director of business development and the in-house staff person in charge of the sale. “AQHA and the World Show Sale Committee want to help facilitate that dream, and that’s why we take special care in selecting the horses consigned to the sale.”

Before accepting a horse into the sale, the committee members analyzed each horse’s performance record, pedigree, dam and sire performance records, conformation and athletic ability.

Parties interested in consigning a horse to the 2013 AQHA World Show Sale are encouraged to download the consignment form. The consignment deadline is August 15.
