2018 AQHA Hall of Fame Inductees Announced

The horses in the Class of 2018 are Maroon (TB), Otoe, Runaway Winner, Smart Chic Olena and The Ole Man.

The four men and two women who will join the Hall of Fame are Abigail Kawananakoa of Nuevo, California; Dr. Tom Lenz of Louisburg, Kansas; the late AQHA Past President Gene Graves of Grand Island, Nebraska; Georga and the late Raymond Sutton of Gettysburg, South Dakota; and the late Robert Sutherland of Kansas City, Missouri.

The National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) announced Friday this year’s top horses in collegiate equestrian. The top 10 horses were selected from each of the four disciplines in the NCEA; reining, horsemanship, equitation on the flat, and equitation over fences.

“It was a WONDERFUL show,” she says. “The Exhibitors’ Party on Friday night was again a huge hit. We fed almost 400 people! We were sold out on hookups and stalls for the fourth year in a row. We’re very appreciative of the exhibitors continuing their support of our Martinganza. We will once again look at our schedule for 2018 and see what we need to do to make any improvements.”

The addition of multiple new classes dramatically increased the number of points earned each year. As nominations have since decreased, less money is added to the fund. However, a large number of horses continue to show and earn even more points. The result is a decline in point value.
