The Baker Family of Bandera, Texas, recently donated an additional $100,000 to the American Paint Horse Foundation’s Capital Campaign, bringing their total donations to $300,000 since 2014. The donations are made in memory of Rebecca Sue Harrison Baker, courtesy of her husband Jerry and children.

AQHA Executive Vice President Craig Huffhines joined AQHA President Stan Weaver, Committee Member Kenneth Banks, First Vice President Butch Wise, Second Vice President Norman Luba, and Committee Member Dr. Scott Myers during three days of meeting to review recommendations from the AQHA Convention. APHA’s Paint Horse Championship program is back for 2019 and already approved for a few events this year—the first of which is the Northeast Paint Horse Championship Show taking place at the Mid-Atlantic Paint Classic Show held May 11-12 in Culpeper, Virginia. 

“APHA is dedicated to listening to our exhibitors and working to provide the best possible competition environment,” Senior Director of APHA Events Holly Slaughter said. “By shifting our cutting world championship events to the summer, we hope to make this prestigious event easier to attend for more exhibitors. The date change also allows us to provide top-quality footing while keeping exhibitor costs down, thanks to a partnership with the National Cutting Horse Association’s Summer Cutting Spectacular, which immediately follows our events.”

During the clinics, donations will be accepted from the audience for the AQHA Professional Horsemen’s Crisis Fund. The crisis fund helps professionals in times of need, arising from sudden and demonstrable hardship or disaster of a severe and unexpected nature or from serious physical illness. NSBA’s Stallion Incentive Fund has consistently paid the highest per point value for an incentive fund of its kind. Last year, each NSBA point paid $33.68 with the highest point earner receiving a check for over $6,000.

The second annual National Snaffle Bit Association Coaches Summit was held in Westlake, Texas March 25-27, 2019.
