After taking comments and findings into consideration, the AQHA Executive Committee approved the use of a lip cord in amateur and open halter classes for stallions, ages 1-year-old and older only, effective January 1, 2016.

The clinical signs of the disease include vesicles, erosions and sloughing of the skin on the muzzle, tongue, teats and above the hooves of susceptible livestock. Vesicles are usually only seen early in the course of the disease.

A 14-yr-old mare named “Heidi” was trapped halfway through the side door of the trailer and could not move forward or backwards. The owners and bystanders assisted in keeping the horse calm and relaxed while fire personnel quickly derived a plan of action to free the trapped horse.
