In what’s considered the state’s worst flood in more than a century, West Virginia‘s three most devastated counties – Kanawha, Greenbrier and Nicholas – and possibly others will receive federal assistance, officials said on Saturday. Winfield – the site of the cancelled WVQHA show – is located in Putnam County, West Virginia.

“The indictment alleges that beginning in 2011, the defendants purchased American Quarter Horses from an auction house in Oklahoma using drug proceeds collected in San Antonio. The indictment specifically identifies six occasions in October and November 2011, where payments were made for horses. Each payment was under $10,000 so as to avoid having to complete an IRS form 8300, which would have alerted the IRS and possibly raised suspicion about the source of the funds.”

According to a piece from the Fort Worth Business, the American Paint Horse Association has signed a letter of intent to move its headquarters from the current location at the Mercantile Center business park in northwest Fort Worth to the Fort Worth Stockyards Horse & Mule Barns at East Exchange Avenue. Belly bands, though created with the intention to protect horses from spur rubs among other things, are being misused to disguise abuse. For this reason, the board of directors has chosen to ban them from use on the show grounds in favor of encouraging exhibitors to use spurs responsibly or face the consequences of overuse of spurs.

3312. Halter Classes. Entries shall be led into the ring in a halter, or a bridle maybe used in Pleasure Type division classes. Quarter boots, blinders or other appliances including braces are prohibited. A lip chain or lip cord may be used with a halter only as allowed and defined in this rule.
