AQHA Foundation Awards 40 Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies Grants

The American Quarter Horse Foundation has awarded more than $119,000 in grants to Equine Assisted Activities & Therapies centers in 2019. The general fund grants support individualized employee/volunteer training and center immersion training through approved educational clinics and or workshops. The Arizona Fund grants support individualized employee/volunteer training and center immersion training and scholarships or financial assistance for client expenses.

“The American Quarter Horse Foundation is very proud to help continue to make an impact through the Equine Assisted Activities & Therapies grant program,” said Anna Morrison, chief Foundation officer. “Our donors are passionate about supporting the people who need the horse the most through the Foundation’s Equine Assisted Activities & Therapies grant program.”

The America’s Horse Cares grant program awards funding to centers that provide equine assisted activities and therapies to individuals with special needs. Funding supports continuing education and professional certification for therapists, mental health professionals, employees and volunteers who work one-on-one with clients to provide much needed care. Through America’s Horse Cares, the Foundation has awarded 308 grants totaling more than $1 million to support EAAT.

Since 2002, the Foundation has been on a journey to help ensure special-needs individuals experience the freedom and life-changing benefits that come from being horse back. The equine assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) industry is growing rapidly as therapists and medical professionals are gaining awareness of the powerful benefits that come from riding and working with our horse. The American Quarter Horse Foundation is dedicated to facilitating opportunities for individuals in need and being responsive to the growing industry.
