APHA / USTRC Cowtown ShootOut Will be First of Five Qualifying Events For RFD-TV’s “The American” Rodeo With $2 Million Cash Payout

Filed under: Club & Show News |

FORT WORTH—Excitement is building in the rodeo community upon announcement of RFD-TV’s The American Rodeo. The American will be the largest and richest one-day rodeo in the history of the sport, paying out $2,000,000.

The event is going to showcase the top 10 contestants in the world after the PBR World Finals and WNFR. In addition, any other athlete who wishes to compete against the world’s best will be eligible for part of the $2,000,000 payout.

There will be five qualifying events for each rodeo event. The top qualifiers will then move on to compete against the top 10 in the World at THE AMERICAN on March 2.

Ropers will have the opportunity to qualify through the national sanctioning body, the United States Team Roping Championships (USTRC). USTRC has identified five events at which ropers can attempt to qualify for The American’s big payout—the first of which is the new Cowtown ShootOut, slated for mid-November in Fort Worth, Texas.

Team ropers on all breeds of horses are encouraged to enter the USTRC Cowtown ShootOut event, which will be held in conjunction with the APHA World Show and produced by USTRC. Dates for the roping are set for November 15-17 in Will Rogers Coliseum.

An $8,000 cash bonus for Paint Horses has been set aside and will be offered in addition to the regular USTRC payout and prize line. If the rider of a registered Paint Horse has a TRIAD Classification number of six (#6) or greater, and is high money winner with that classification, the owner of the horse will earn a $4,000 cash bonus. The same $4,000 incentive bonus will be awarded to the owner of the registered paint horse whose rider was the high money winner classified as an Elite #5 and below. The owners must be APHA members to receive the bonus. Part of the added money for the Paint incentive at the Cowtown ShootOut is sponsored by Farnam. Sign up at the event.

Entry information will become available shortly in various roping oriented print publications, in SuperLooper Magazine, or by calling the USTRC at 254-968-0002.

Registered Paint Horses may also compete in the APHA World Championship roping classes November 13. More information about the APHA World Show is available online at oawcs.apha.com or by calling APHA at 817-834-2742.
