The Coplen family made the trip to Arizona Fall Championship from Washington State, and the journey has represented much more than just a horse show.
Their horse, Clubbin, aka “Jet,” colicked two shows after they purchased him two years ago as a horse that Brandi Coplen and her daughter, Rylee, could share. Clubbin needed emergency surgery, Brandi explains, and in a full circle moment, the surgeon who saved his life was none other than Dr. MaKenzie Adams, who used to show youth together with Brandi.
Jet recovered, and though the original intention was to have Rylee start in walk trot, Brandi says, “That was cut short and this year we have all been back in the ring with lots of wins. Rylee jumped right into canter classes and we haven’t looked back. We just love this animal so much and we plan to get them out to more of the majors next year.”
