TNR Latte On Ice finishes the AQHYA World Show with a Gold Globe for Jack Herman – and a reminder of the love of family.

By Delores Kuhlwein

“Family is not an important thing. It’s everything.” — Michael J. Fox.

The importance of family, especially horse show family, always prevails as an ever-present theme stemming from the industry.

For the Herman family of Oklahoma, this year’s AQHYA World Show without their patriarch, the late Robie Herman, wasn’t easy. But they had reminders of connectivity to keep them strong, such as the shirt Ella Kate wore, made with Robie’s favorite show shirt, and for Jack Herman, he was able to wear Robie’s hat into the arena, refashioned for him by Shorty’s Caboy Hattery.

Jack proudly wore that hat for the first time at the 2025 AQHYA World Championship Show as he competed with TNR Latte On Ice in the L3 Aged Geldings, and the pair came out with the coveted title of World Champions.

For Jack, it was his third World Championship with “Rooster,” but it is the tenth for the 2020 gelding by Ecredible and out of Coolatte (by A Legend At Last), bred by Suzonne Franks.  And while Jack’s sisters love performance events, Halter has always been Jack’s favorite discipline.  “It takes a lot of mental focus, and you really need to like lock in and do what needs to be done to win. So that’s kind of one of the things I like about it,” he says.

As Jack thanked his mom, his trainers, and his horse for the day’s accomplishments, he says wearing his dad’s hat felt nice, “to still have a part of him with me.”

It was a fitting way for the family to finish the show, since Rooster is a family horse, trainer Kelley Wainscott explains.

“Grandpa Bruce Herman shows him in the Select, and Jack’s aunt, Kodi Yorman, shows him in the Amateur,” she says.  “Jack, of course, shows him in the Youth, and I show him in the open.  He’s an all-in-the-family horse and he has been since the day we got him – he has always had three divisions of family showing. He has always been a great family horse.”
