A new face was added to APHA’s top leadership on February 27 at APHA Convention in Irving, Texas. APHA’s national directors elected Alison Umberger of Broad Run, Virginia, to join the ranks of the Executive Committee.

“There’s no doubt that we all love our beautiful Paint Horses,” Alison said. “But in the end, I believe it’s about the connections and the memories that we make along the way that fuel our passion for APHA.”

Alison will serve as sixth committee member of the APHA Executive Committee.

George Ready of Hernando, Mississippi, also took the reins of the association as the 2017 president at Convention.

“You may not agree with some of the things I do, but you can always be confident that my actions are taken on the condition that they are for the betterment of the Paint Horse and the association,” George said. “No doubt, I will make mistakes. But as my hero Teddy Roosevelt said, ‘The only man who doesn’t make mistakes is the one who never does anything.’ I appreciate your support, and the work I’ll rely upon from you this year.”

The 2017 APHA Committee stands as follows:

President—George Ready, Hernando, Mississippi

President Elect—Dr. Craig Wood, Owenton, Kentucky

Vice President—Mike Short, Shiner, Texas

Senior Committee Member—Casey West, Abilene, Kansas

Fifth Committee Member—Karen Thomas, Morganton, North Carolina

Sixth Committee Member—Alison Umberger, Broad Run, Virginia

Immediate Past President—Susie Shaw, Parsons, Tennessee
