There are multiple collegiate athletic conferences competing underneath the umbrella of the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA). While many conferences have elected to suspend competition until a later date, the SEC has chosen to move forward with its athletic season. I’m unable to speak to the experiences and feelings of girls who may not be able to look forward to a season in the coming year; but, for Texas A&M, Auburn, Georgia, and South Carolina, it’s business as usual, for the most part.

2020 ApHC Stallion Breeding Reports Due Soon

If your stallion was used for ApHC breeding purposes in 2020, we encourage you to take advantage of on-time member fees for filing stallion breeding reports; $30 plus $5 per mare. Membership of the stallion owner is required to file reports at member rates. Avoid paying late filing fees by having your stallion breeding report postmarked by November 30, 2020. Late reports, postmarked after November 30 of the breeding year, will be charged a late filing fee of $50 in addition to on-time filing fees.

Similar to its meaning in music, cadence refers to the rhythm of a horse’s hoof beats. Each gait that a horse performs (walk, trot, canter, etc.) will have a specific footfall pattern. No matter the discipline or gait, you want a horse to have a consistent, even cadence. Not only will this be an indicator of athleticism and soundness, but also level of training and focus. A horse with a steady cadence will likely also maintain a more consistent pace and be more pleasurable to ride.

NSBA Fees For Yearlings Enrolling in BCF

NSBA members who nominate their foals to the Breeders Championship Futurity and/or Color Breeders Championship Futurity increase the value of their stock by making them eligible for an additional $350,000 awarded annually in BCF classes at the World Championship Show each August. Since 2001, the Breeders Championship Show has awarded more than four million dollars in earnings to NSBA members.
