The 2018 AQHA Central Level 1 Championships is April 10-14 at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City, the 2018 AQHA West Level 1 Championships returns April 18-22 to the South Point Equestrian & Events Center in Las Vegas and the 2018 Nutrena East AQHA Level 1 Championships is May 2-6 at the World Equestrian Center in Wilmington, Ohio. Exhibitors can compete at only one Level 1 Championships each year.

The AQHA Level 1 Championship cattle classes, previously offered in April at the AQHA Central Level 1 Championships in Oklahoma City, are moving to the 2018 Zoetis AQHA Versatility Ranch Horse World Championships and Zoetis AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenge Finals, which are June 14-17 at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma.

In fact, according to Marsha Hathaway, PhD, University of Minnesota, horses require an additional 1% of energy for each degree below 18 degrees. In order to provide these calories, she explains that it is beneficial to provide more hay as, “there is the heat generated from microbial fermentation of forages that occurs in the hindgut during digestion.”

“Mick” has been part the DSU equestrian team from the beginning. The team started in Fall 2006, and he has competed in every home meet since in at least one event. “Mick” is our “go to ride.” He literally can do all four events, and we have used him in all four.
