The second item addressed the creation of a task force to investigate the use, distribution and value of microchipping in all or just certain American Quarter Horses. The task force’s findings and/or recommendations will be presented to appropriate committees at the 2018 annual convention for consideration.

The 2017 March To The Arch kicked off yesterday in spectacular style with the $7,500 Open Novice Horse Western Pleasure Slot class. Winning the $7,500 class was Cleve Wells with Amblin Potential, earning $3,952.50. The Highest Placing Limited Rider was Joshua Brown with Lazy Lopin Moonlight earning $2,000. The Highest Placing Intermediate Rider was Jonathan Meilleur with Thepartysgettinghot earning $1,000.

The highlight of the first weekend was the inaugural $9,000 NSBA Level 1 Western Pleasure Slot Class with 11 horse showing. The class paid 1-5th and 10th and had a separete Limited Division. Chris Jones and Amazin Dream and Kenny Lakins and She Had Me At Hello shared the top prize as co-winners.
