While waiting on my flight to DFW with a connection to Oklahoma City on my way to a show, I am thinking about the number of major horse shows held from the months of August to November. August begins with the Youth World, the next week is the NSBA World Championship, the next week (3 weeks, actually) is the Reichert Celebration, with the AQHA Select World overlapping. Whew!

After the unfortunate death of both her husband and daughter, she lost the family farm in Harvard, IL in 2012.

Winning the Medium Division and $15,000 is Corvin Performance Horses, of Canyon, Texas. Corvin Performance Horses reached large numbers of newcomers by bringing their horses to community events such as “I Heart Canyon,” reaching out to children from low-income families. Melissa Corvin explains that through interactions with horses, young children are able to build their confidence.

A natural leader and outgoing young horsewoman, she wasted no time in networking with Paint Horse industry leaders to help her generate ideas and organize fundraisers.
