The Midwest Regional Championship on September 17 & 18, 2022, was a combined APHA show held at Iowa Equestrian Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and sponsored by the Iowa/Minnesota/Wisconsin/Missouri Paint Horse Clubs. Long Creek ApHC, a regional club based in east central Illinois, recently hosted their annual show, Get Spotted, at Gordyville USA in Gifford, Illinois. With over 1,200 entries, 300+ stall reservations and nearly 200 classes offered, the show was a huge success! Due to COVID, last year’s show had to be moved from its usual end of April dates to Labor Day weekend. While 2020’s event was still impressive in number, the show held April 23 – 25, 2021 saw it double in size!

The four regional Paint Horse clubs that make up APHA’s “Zone 8” have collaborated to create an exciting new joint-event series called The Great 8 Midwest Connection. The circuit includes three, four-judge Paint-o-Rama horse shows, which will be jointly hosted by the regional shows. The circuit series builds on the success of events that were jointly hosted in 2019 and 2020 by participating Zone 8 regional paint clubs. Zone 8 regional paint horse clubs hosted the #1 (Fall Color Classic, Michigan Paint Horse Club) and #11 (Border Bash, Michigan/Ohio Paint Horse Clubs) horse shows for 2020.
