This particular horse weighs 1,900 pounds, stands 16 and a half feet tall, and took approximately four months to design and build. The anatomy of the horse was constructed by using recycled materials McConnell found in a junkyard. Items such as a propane tank, truck leaf springs, truck drive shaft swivel, air tanks, rebar, and tractor parts provided the DNA to create this stunning animal.

What were once constructed out of a few standard striped poles, and some well placed flowers, have been completely re-imagined to create extraordinary spectacles, meant to test a horse and rider's ability to maintain focus in even the most distracting situations.

"My business is beginning to be more and more commissions, and that is what I want to do," she says. "I've been having a lot of people start calling me after I did the Masterson's two stallions, RL Best of Sudden and Zippos Sheik. They have actually commissioned a third piece that will be of Marilyn on the recent cover of The Chronicle. I told her that I've never drawn anyone as pretty as her, so I will try to do her justice! Horses are a lot easier to draw than people."

We were lucky enough to come in contact recently with AQHA youth member and active Morgan Horse exhibitor, 12-year-old Connor Farley of Waverly, West Virginia. Farley received an early Christmas present this year in the form of a few coveted tickets to special pre-release screening of Steven Spielberg's highly anticipated new film, War Horse.
