The Ray Hunt Memorial Clinic is set to take place Feb. 27-28, 2010 at the Will Rogers Coliseum in Fort Worth, TX. A group of presenters were chosen and will being honored for their dedication to Ray Hunt’s legacy.
Ray Hunt passed away during March of last year after a long battle with COPD. He is survived by his wife Carolyn, four daughters, two sons, 18 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren
The presenters will include Martin Black, Jason Leitch, Wade Black, Jaton Lord, Buck Brannaman, Buster McLaury, Peter Campbell, Tom Curtin, Ricky Quinn, Wayne Robinson, Paul Dietz, Kip Fladland, Mike Sears, Lee Smith, Harley Green, David Stuart, Brook Hazlett, Charlie Hill, Ty Van Norman, Mark Schwarm and Bruce Laird.
Each participant will be given 45 minutes to work with a young horse, which are generously being provided by Wood Ranch and will be offered for sale by private treaty. To see papers on the young horses click here.
According to the Ray Hunt Website, ”This is not a competition; rather it is an opportunity to honor both the horse and Ray’s memory. The presentations will be critiqued not as to how much was accomplished, but more importantly, how it was accomplished and how the needs of each horse were met by the presenter. A panel of the participant’s peers will be critiquing the presentations, along with each audience member who will have the chance to vote for the presenter they see as most embodying the ideals Ray worked to instill in all of us.”
The presenter with the best demonstration will receive one of Ray’s personal Dale Harwood saddles. In addition, each presenter will receive a piece of Ray’s personal tack in recognition of their skill.
Commentators for the event will include Pat Parelli and Sharon Camarillo, and the judges will be Les Best and Bill Smith. There will also be a private treaty sale and live auction. One of the items up for auction is one lot of 10 frozen semen doses and one cooled shipped semen container from NCHA stallion Sophisticated Catt. Also, a Hart living quarters horse trailer will be raffled off for $100 per ticket.
At 7 pm. Feb. 27, 2010, the Ray Hunt Memorial Banquet will take place, to be followed by a memorial slideshow and auction of Ray’s personal tack.
