Horse owners seeking information on basic horse management will have an opportunity to attend a day‐long program focusing on just that at the 7th Horse Management 101 Workshop on February 25, 2010 at Texas A&M University.
This workshop will be held at the Louis Pearce Pavilion on the campus of Texas A&M University, allowing for a hands‐on approach to some of the workshop topics.
Horse owners will learn about topics such as general horse nutrition, equine genetics, feeding management and hay and pasture selection and quality. Also, information about general health, immunizations and deworming will be covered. Additional topics include permanent identification, first aid, dentistry, hoof care, facility design, equipment and basic management tools. Resource material related to horse theft awareness and prevention will also be offered.
Instruction will be provided by equine faculty from both the Equine Science Section of the Animal Science Department and the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
You must pre‐register to attend the workshop. Registration includes printed materials, a light breakfast and lunch. The workshop will begin at 8:00 a.m.. The cost for the Equine Owner Education Workshop is $50.00 and online registration will be accepted through February 15, 2010. Late online registration is $ 60.00 and will be accepted from February 16 – February 19, 2010. Registration at the door is $ 70.00. For more information, contact Dr. Brett D.
