Equi-Safe: HDPE Electric Equine Fencing

Product/Service Review by Brittany Bevis

Equi-Safe has developed  a revolutionary new electric post and rail fencing made from a high density polyethylene plastic. The electric version of their fencing is made from a 100% recyclable plastic that is embedded with a stainless steel electric wire.

Equi-Safe’s website touts their electric equine fencing as being maintenance-free, unbreakable, environmentally friendly, weather resistant and economical.

Both electric and non-electric fencing options boast a higher material impact rating than traditional PVC fencing. This means that it provides strength and durability while minimize potential injury to the horse.

Currently, there are two, three and four rail versions available. Both the posts and rails are rounded in shape and have the ability to flex upon impact. Also, the 3” rail and 5.5” post diameter provide a high visibility factor.

A unique feature of the HDPE plastic is that it can withstand temperatures much lower than freezing. The website claims that the material has properties similar to an ice cube tray, meaning that ice will not stick to the surface.
