This year’s show will include Junior and Senior Green Trail, Select Over Fences classes, Performance Halter Stallions, $2,500 Limited Horse/$2,500 Limited Rider Open Western Pleasure, Ranch Trail, Ranch Pleasure, BCF Three-Year-Old Open Trail, and BCF Three-Year-Old Non Pro Trail.

Karen Orman of Des Moines, Iowa, and Dalts Superman Design earned the High-Point PBRIP title, in addition to topping the PBRIP 2D and 3D standings. Karen and “Doodle” earned 77 points to clinch the titles—including 34 points in the 2D and 36 points in 3D events; for their efforts, they take home two Elite saddles, a trophy breast collar, Gist championship buckle and APHA year-end money.

To be eligible for the high-point awards, exhibitors had to earn at least 1 point in each of APHA’s four ranch horse events: ranch trail, ranch pleasure, ranch reining and ranch cow work. Open points were based on the horse, while Amateur, Novice Amateur and Youth points were based on each horse-and rider-combination. Each high-point award winner will be awarded a ranch ​horse trophy saddle provided by Elite Custom Saddles.

The 2015 Zoetis AQHA Versatility Ranch Horse and John Deere AQHA Cowboy Mounted Shooting World Championships kicked off the first day of competition March 17 in Houston. Classes began at 8 a.m. in the Reliant Arena, with ranch conformation, followed by ranch reining.

The Mayflower is coming to Des Moines, Iowa, May 5-8, 2016 and the stall reservation deadline is quickly approaching, April 1st! The 2016 Mayflower will host six AQHA judges over the course of four days. Judges for the show will be Andrea Simons, Sara Beth Simons, Leslie Lange, John Briggs, Brad Jewett, and John Boxell.
