Earlier this week, we reported on a story about an 8-month-old cutting horse filly named “Bald-Faced Lie,” who was found dead in her pasture at 72 Ranch in Parker County, Texas. Authorities believe she had been shot at close range with a high powered rifle.
During the interview, owner Kris Larsen expressed her astonishment at the generosity of the horse community.
“I am overwhelmed by the fact that complete strangers are calling and offering to donate money for the reward,” she said. “Just today I had five people I didn’t know, call and want to donate money. I think this has definitely affected a lot of people.”
At that time, the reward was approximately $2,000, half of which was put up by Larsen and half by the Parker County Crime Stoppers.
After notable donations from the National Cutting Horse Association, the Humane Society of North Texas and the Humane Society of the United States, the reward is now up to $10,700.
Anyone with information about the shooting can call the Parker County Sheriff’s Office at (817) 594-8845, or the Crime Stoppers at (817) 599-5555. All Crime Stoppers calls are confidential.
