One “Tuff” little colt has taken the halter pen by storm at the 2011 APHA World Championship Show, winning both the Weanling Stallions and Geldings Slot class yesterday and the Amateur Weanling Stallions class this morning. The first title for Built Execute Tuff came yesterday with Katie Mitchell in the Weanling Stallions and Geldings Slot class, where the pair received a check for $3,600.

His second title of the show came this morning with owner Robin Robinett in the Amateur Weanling Stallions.

Built Execute Tuff is by Execute and out of the mare, Phenomenal Ms. As a result of his impeccable breeding, this young stallion is triple papered, being registered with AQHA, APHA, and PtHA.

Although you might be used to seeing Katie Mitchell around the AQHA and APHA show pens, she tells us that she hasn’t actually shown a horse at the APHA World Show since 2007. This meant that according to slot requirements, Mitchell was eligible to show Tuff in the slot class yesterday.

“It was very fun,” Mitchell says. “I had a great time. In order to participate in the slot class, I couldn’t have had a World or Reserve World title in any breed between 2008 and 2010, so I fell right in the middle of being qualified.”

For Mitchell, being back in the APHA show pen was a thrill, and she was very happy that she could lead a horse belonging to her good friend to victory.

“He is a very showy colt,” she says. “What we see for him is to be a potential sire in the future, as well as an excellent show prospect.”

“He is really excellent in balance and structure. He is a fancy colt, and pretty, but he has the structure to go with it. He is great in the show pen, and we are really excited to bring some more Execute blood into the Paint breed.”

Despite their recent wins, Mitchell and Robinett will get no rest, because they are off to Oklahoma City for the AQHA World Show after the Amateur Aged Mares concludes at the APHA World Show this afternoon.

“After the Aged Mares, we will take the horses home, put the Quarters on the trailer, and head up to OKC,” she says. “We start with the Amateur halter classes on Sunday. Robin will be showing Kiddin A Mister in the Amateur Weanling Stallions, who was just a Congress Champion in the Limited division last week. I will show De Niro, who was a Reserve Congress Champion in the Limited division of the Open 2-Year-Old Geldings.”
