Three Chips LLC, Lori Hanson and Todd Michael, is pleased to announce the purchase of Three Chips, a 2002 16 hand brown/white tobiano stallion by Zips Chocolate Chip and out of the mare, Hug Me Zippo from Scott and Julie Suggs.

Three Chips is a 2004 Reserve Reichert Champion in the prestigious $90,000 Equine Color Classic event. In addition, he was a multiple futurity winner (Thanksgiving Classic Futurity Champion and Labor Day Futurity Champion) while earning 50 points to garner his APHASuperior Western Pleasure award.

After such a successful year in 2004, Three Chips was retired to the breeding shed to become the sire that he was bred to be. This magnificent stallion was bred by successful western pleasure enthusiasts Don and Cindy Gattis from Sorrento, Florida who deliberately chose AQHA World Champion/World Champion sire, Zips Chocolate Chip to be bred to their APHA two-time Reserve World Champion/World Champion producing mare, Hug Me Zippo in hopes of adding yet another future Champion to their credit.

So many times, stallions encounter challenges during their career and Three Chips is no exception. As many of you know or heard about, Three Chips had been involved in a legal situation with the passing of his previous owner. Although this was a deterrent in the breeding barn, Three Chips was still able to have a very limited book during the years 2006, 2007, and 2008.

During this time, Scott and Julie Suggs took exceptional care of this stallion, while the pending litigation was being resolved. A special THANKS goes to Scott and Julie for offering the Hansons and Michael such an opportunity to own this up and coming sire who has a great show record, a pedigree second to none, along with confirmation and color (homozygous for the dark gene) to allow him to be an asset to the American Paint Horse Association.

Double L Paint Horses already own the APHA sires, By Appointment Only and One Kool Krymsun. APHA lunge line classes were often seen with “Elvis” and “Kool’s” offspring within them in 2009 across the country. In 2010, be on the look out for a Double L Paint Horse foal riding near you. The acquisition of Three Chips came at the right time to complement their already successful breeding program and was an opportunity to great to pass up!

Three Chips will stand in 2010 at Double L Paint Horses in Cedar Rapids, Iowa while offering an introductory stud fee of $750.00 which includes the first shipment of domestic cooled semen. Please contact Lori Hanson at 319-270-9745 or Todd Michael at 419-306-2259 for additional information. We invite you to visit him online at www.doublelpainthorses.com and take a look for yourself. Come see how you can get a “Chip” of your own!
