AQHA Past President David Perkins Has Died

The Equine Chronicle regrets to announce that AQHA past president David Perkins died Feb. 18 at the age of 88.

Perkins, a retired cattleman and farmer served as president of the Avoyelles Cattlemen’s Association for four terms, the Louisiana Cattlemen’s Association and was named Louisiana Cattleman of the Year in 1980. He was also inducted into the American Quarter Horse Association Hall of Fame in 1996.

Perkins is survived by his daughter Kathryn P. Randall, her husband Craig W. Randall, and daughter Lynn P. Perez. He has six grandchildren and two great granddaughters.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Escude Funeral Home in Moreauville, Louisiana.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 20 at Escude Funeral Home Moreauville with Rev. Anthony Ranero officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to the St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 or the American Quarter Horse Foundation 2601 East I-40, Amarillo, TX  79104.
