Sweet Sanadika V
The San Luis Obispo County Crime Stoppers has announced that the reward for the shooting death of a prized Arabian mare at Varian Arabians in Arroyo Grande, CA has increased to $10,000.
The Sheriff’s Rural Crime Unit is still investigating the shooting death of one horse and the wounding of another in late December.
According to the report, staff members remember hearing multiple gun shots from a nearby roadway at approximately 8:30 in the evening. After checking the pasture the next morning, around 7:00 am, staff discovered the two wounded animals.
One of the mares had to be euthanized and the other remains in critical condition at a local veterinary facility. Both of the horses were located in a pasture bordering Corbett Canyon road when the incident occurred.
The horse that had to be euthanized was a prize Aristocrat mare named Sweet Sanadika V, and the horse still in critical condition is the 26 year old mare Mosquerade V. According to a press release, Ranch Manager Angela Alverez describes the horses as very lovely, sweet mares and says “there are no words to express the shock and dismay of such a tragedy felt by all of us here.”
As of press time, there are no suspects.
